China is the new frontier of the global economy and the exhibition industry must play a strategic role in strengthening the relations between countries. OBOR Exhibition 2019 originates from a contract signed between Fiera Roma and the General Manager of the Chinese company UGI, Ms. Feng Hua. The agreement will bring over 100 Chinese companies to Fiera Roma for the event: for these we are organizing targeted B2B meetings with Italian companies. Of course it is our zero edition, we nevertheless trust that in the coming years the initiative may involve the entire and extended Silk Road area, a path to reach over 65 countries whose total GDP sums up to 25 thousand billion dollars, equal to 31% of world GDP. In the current scenario of trades between Asia and the Mediterranean – Italy – if our country plays well its cards, can gain the role of strategic hub of all Europe.
Pietro Piccinetti, CEO and General Manager, Fiera Roma
OBOR Exhibition is the first event after the recent historic official visit of President Xi Jinping in Italy in March 2019, set out to develop the business and commercial aspects of Sino-Italian relations and to represent Italy’s role within One Belt One Road/Belt and Road Initiative, the Chinese strategic and economic development plan in which Italy has the strategic role of maritime terminal. OBOR Exhibition, which we specifically placed six months after CIIE – China International Import Expo held in Shanghai last November, will be a four-day event, with workshops focusing on the New Silk Road and tailor-made B2Bs: a major international event during which Italian companies will be able to meet buyers interested in Made in Italy products and venture capital representatives, eager to select innovative projects and start-ups to be promoted in China and on international markets.
Michele De Gasperis, Presidente dell’Istituto Italiano OBOR – 意大利一带一路研究机构
We immediately took the opportunity to participate in the organization of OBOR Exhibition, and we are very glad to work in the development of this project with Fiera di Roma. “One Belt One Road” program will be very important for the economic relations that our country will have with the rest of the world in the years to come, and Italy, maritime terminal of the New Silk Road and privileged trade partner for our companies, is one of the more important interlocutors within the Chinese strategic plan. The relationship between China and Italy have never been so strong, and this event will make a major contribution to their further growth.
Feng Hua, General Manager, UGI – Union Glory International
Respectable Authorities, dear colleagues and friends, OBOR Exhibition 2019 has just ended, allowing us to reach a very important result. This zero-edition made it possible for the first time to gather all the major Sino-Italian actors under one name, and present ourselves as the first major platform for economic, commercial and cultural relations between Italy and China, within the One Belt One Road program / Belt and Road Initiative.
